Specialist programs
Our specialist programs are based on the academic, social and cultural needs of the students in our school to ensure we are providing an inclusive and engaging place to learn and grow.
House Colours
House Colours is a wellbeing program that involves the whole school. It provides students and staff with an opportunity to connect with members of the school community that they may not normally connect with.
Each House Colour is run by House Captains with the support of adults. The House Captains apply for the position and demonstrate leadership skills such as organisation, problem solving, initiative & planning.
House Colours supports the development of interpersonal skills allowing all students to feel they belong and are seen & heard.
Intervention and Support
Our school has a strong focus on providing all students with the support and intervention they require to belong to the school community, engage purposefully in learning and experience academic success.
Leadership, classroom teachers, support staff and support services work together to identify students who need intervention support and prioritise these needs from a whole school perspective.
Our intervention programs focus on supporting students across a range of areas including literacy, numeracy, social engagement and emotional wellbeing.
Zen Zone – The Zen Zone runs at lunchtimes for particular students that have been identified as needing a calmer space or some regulation time during play times.
Lunch Time Activities – Students who require support with social connection or team skills are supported during play time with structured adult led activities.
Wellbeing
At Brahma Lodge Primary School, our wellbeing program is connected to our core values of Respect, Responsibility, and Relationships. By integrating elements from the Zones of Regulation, Positive Behaviour for Learning, and the Berry Street Curriculum, we have developed a comprehensive support system tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students.
Our approach focuses on open and honest conversations, empowering students to take ownership of their feelings and behaviours and learn from each experience. We believe that developing an environment of trust and honesty helps students develop essential life skills and emotional resilience.
A key component of our wellbeing program is the use of restorative practices to repair and rebuild relationships. These practices ensure that students feel supported and safe within the school environment. During restorative justice conversations, everyone involved has the opportunity to be heard in a safe and supportive setting. These conversations allow students to discuss what happened, express their feelings, and collaboratively determine the steps needed to restore and strengthen relationships.
Our commitment to wellbeing emphasises a proactive approach. We celebrate students’ positive moments and acknowledge choices and behaviours that align with our school values. This recognition occurs in various forms, including the Above & Beyond book, texts home to families, school assemblies, classroom acknowledgements, and award certificates. Additionally, daily recognition in the classroom and the school yard reinforces our values and supports our positive school culture.
Through our approach to wellbeing, we aim to help students understand the impact of their choices on others and promote a culture of respect and responsibility. By supporting our students in this way, we strive to create a genuine and inclusive environment where every student can thrive both academically and personally.
Breakfast Club
Every Tuesday and Thursday, Brahma Lodge Primary School hosts Breakfast Club for all students. This program encourages students to connect with each other while enjoying a healthy, balanced breakfast. Supported by Kickstart for Kids, who generously donate all the food, the Breakfast Club has developed a sense of community and allows for positive morning routines for our students.
The Breakfast Club also promotes independence, as students are responsible for washing their own dishes. It enhances social skills and manners, with students practising how to ask for items politely and engage in conversations with their peers and staff members. By starting the day with a nutritious meal, students are set up for success and ready to learn.
